Picture

'Half of six is instant relaxation...' guest, August 2012

1/2 of 6 Gedintailor is a 100-year-old traditional croft house that has been carefully renovated to provide every modern comfort, while retaining its original character and charm.
Situated on the east coast of Skye, eight miles south of Portree, there are stunning views over the Narrows of Raasay and towards the Isle of Raasay. It stands in a three-acre field - with a working croft behind it (this neighbour shares the access track) - and also has a garden enclosed by a dry stone wall to the front of the house, which provides a lovely sheltered spot for barbeques and for sitting out. There are trees to climb in the garden as well as space to run and play away from any roads. The popular sandy beach at Braes is a short walk away.
Inside there are two bedrooms upstairs, one with a double bed, the other with two singles. As in all traditional cottages of this size, the upstairs floor has sloping ceilings at the sides of the rooms, but there is plenty of space.
Downstairs there is an open fire in the sitting room and a wood burning stove in the kitchen / dining room. The bathroom is at the foot of the stairs.
There is a washing machine /dryer, a television/DVD and a CD player. There is also a selection of books, games, videos and CD.
Well behaved dogs are welcome - but be aware that the croft house stands in the middle of sheep grazing so please keep dogs on a lead outside the garden. No Smoking please!

ALL PHOTOS at the top of the pages of this website were taken from the garden of Half of Six, except for the photo of Ben Tianavaig, on the 'Skye' page which was taken from the beach below.
